At the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, 2020 was declared the “year of comics”. A proposal to help the authors following the report of the director of the City of Comics.
“2020 will be the year of comics” announced in his speech the Minister at the official launch of the event last year. The Minister of Culture Franck Riester unveiled the report of the director of the City of Comics Pierre Lungheretti “The comic strip, a new artistic and cultural frontier. 54 proposals for a renewed national policy.”
This year, the Minister wants to organise events throughout the country: exhibitions, seminars,readings, contests… The mission will be carried out by the National Book Centre and the City of Comics in Angoulême. In other words, this year would be “an opportunity to highlight this art that is very popular in France and not sufficiently showcased in public institutions. It is also an opportunity to highlight the extraordinary artists that are comic book authors.”
